I spent a few hours the other day at Hildacy Preserve, a beautiful nature area that is sort of a hidden gem in Delco, just off 252 in Media (near Springton Reservoir). I shot this with the Canon R6 in CLOG3, 60 frames per second onto the Ninja V in a ProRes 422 codec. The DJI Mavic Air 2 captured the aerials. It was a warm spring day and the first opportunity to get out after much rain. I used a method in post production I learned from Aidan Robbins to give the highlights a “glowing” or “bloom” effect, similar to what you might find if using a Black Mist filter in-camera. I’m not sure how I feel about this effect, I think if it was foggy or misty out it might be more effective/impactful, or if I was downtown at night capturing city lights.
This is a great preserve and only a few minutes from my house, which I have yet to fully explore. Next time I’ll bring the family and go for a longer walk. One of the hikers I met said there are pretty waterfalls somewhere that can only be seen in the early spring when the rains are heavy and the trees/underbrush are not yet fully grown.
